This Summer, Iced Coffee Is In

Iced Coffee and Summer Heat Waves Just Seem to Go Together

Summer is here, and coffee lovers everywhere are looking forward to the opportunity to enjoy their favorite iced coffee blends. Iced coffee and cold brew are perennial summer favorites, and why shouldn’t they be? They taste great, help keep you cool in the hot summer weather, and give you the buzz that you love when you need to liven up those summer parties and get togethers.

The only downside to drinking iced coffee and cold brew all summer is that some of you might find yourself longing for a bit of variety. Sure, you won’t necessarily be drinking coffee on every trip to the beach and patio party (then again, you might), but you’ll still probably want to mix it up from time to time.

Fortunately, there are plenty of cool iced coffee cocktails and cold brew drinks you can make to liven up your standard warm-weather caffeinated beverage. Here are some to try.

Creamy Iced Coffee

If you like a classic creamy coffee cocktail, try mixing three ounces of RumChatta, six ounces of cold brewed coffee, and an ounce of vodka, stirred over ice for a creamy buzz that will keep you cool on a summer’s eve.

Espresso Summer

If you’re a fan of espresso but haven’t found a good way to drink it at the beach, you’ll be thrilled to try the Espresso Summer. Make this iced coffee beverage by first muddling four blackberries in a cocktail shaker and then adding an ounce of espresso, an ounce and a half of gin, a half-ounce of simple syrup, and a half ounce of orange juice. Throw in ice, shake it up, strain and garnish with an orange slice for a great taste of summer.

Mint Mojito Iced Coffee

If you love mojitos and you love coffee, why not put them together? Made famous by Philz Coffee, the mint mojito coffee drink is one that anyone can make by muddling mint leaves into a mug with sugar, mixing in your favorite coffee blend, and serving the whole concoction over ice.

Iced Coffee Lemonade

You’ve probably heard of the Arnold Palmer – so this beverage is basically a twist on the classic, where you sub in cold brew for iced tea. With little effort, you’ve got a refreshing summer drink with the coffee flavor you love. Just add 4 or 5 ounces of water to 4 or 5 ounces of cold brew, throw in an ounce or two of lemon juice and about 30 grams of simple syrup, mix the whole thing up and serve it over ice.

Mocha Coconut Iced Latte

If you can’t make it out to the tropics this summer, this delicious concoction can make you feel like you’re right there on the islands. Take eight ounces of espresso and mix it with ½ cup of coconut milk, a tablespoon of coconut syrup and two teaspoons of chocolate syrup. Serve the mocha coconut latte over ice and prepare to be transported to paradise!

Let the Iced Coffee Cool You Off This Summer

The great thing about these summer iced coffee concoctions and others like them is that you can easily make them with your favorite brews, so if you love organic, fair trade coffee, you’re in luck, because that’s the perfect ingredient for every one of these summer favorites and soon-to-be favorites.
